Anton Bekhmetyev has traveled to the United States to pursue advanced professional training at New York Law School (NYLS).
The professional development program runs from September 2024 to September 2026.
The course focuses on the practical aspects of international commercial law.
Key course modules include:
- International sales of goods and services (CISG – Vienna Convention);
- International dispute resolution: arbitration (including ICC, ICDR/AAA) and cross-border litigation in U.S. courts;
- Anti-corruption legislation (FCPA, UK Bribery Act) and international sanctions (OFAC);
- Due Diligence in international M&A transactions;
- International tax planning and WTO law.
Upon completion of the program, Anton Bekhmetyev will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in International Commercial Law from New York Law School.
The advanced training obtained through this program, combined with his existing experience, will make it possible to provide the following services at an even higher professional level:
- Structuring international contracts: Drafting transactions between Russian and foreign (including “friendly”) companies, taking into account sanctions-related risks, choice of applicable law, and jurisdiction;
- Arbitration and mediation: Representation in international arbitration proceedings (for example, in Vienna, Istanbul, and Singapore) and in negotiations;
- Sanctions compliance: Consulting on counterparty due diligence, structuring transactions around sanctions restrictions, and interacting with foreign banks;
- Asset protection: Legal assistance with restructuring assets abroad.

Anton Bekhmetyev plans to be based primarily in New York (NY), with business trips to Washington (DC) to study sanctions law enforcement practices, and to Houston (TX) to establish contacts in the energy and commodities sectors.
In addition, a number of meetings are planned, including:
- With partners from a U.S. law firm specializing in international trade (discussing the creation of a referral channel and joint advising of clients from third countries);
- With Russian entrepreneurs doing business in the United States, to provide them with legal support;
- With representatives of the New York State Chamber of Commerce.
